Nor'easter to Bring a Heavy to Major Snowfall Monday Night into Tuesday Night

A major Nor'easter is expected to develop south of New England Monday night, potentially getting stuck near Cape Cod into Tuesday before moving away Tuesday night.  This storm will bring heavy snow and gusty wind at times causing blowing and drifting snow, potential whiteout conditions at times leading to dangerous travel late Monday night through Tuesday.  Snow accumulations of 10" to 20" will be possible, especially in the Hudson valley and across western New England with amounts up to 10" in the Mohawk valley and western Catskills.

Stock index futures are pointing to a modestly higher open in New York with the Dow up 0.2% on Globex. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ are trading 0.3% above fair value.

Investors are optimistic heading into the session. Economic data will be a factor with the Dallas Fed reporting February manufacturing activity at 10:30am ET. On the earnings front, Dillards is off 1.8% in pre-market action after the retailer reported results that were below analysts expectations.

In other news, RF Micro Devices is rallying 22% on reports that the company is merging with TriQuint Semiconductor. Shares of Netflix are also trading higher, up 1.1% after announcing that it reached a service agreement with Comcast to provide faster service for its streaming content. Precious metal stocks could be active in the session as gold prices advance 0.7% to $1333.40 an ounce. Shares of Goldcorp are up 1.5%.

Turning to fixed income markets, Treasuries are lower along the curve. The benchmark 10-year note is down 1/8 of a point to yield 2.75% and the 30-year bond is off 5/32 to yield 3.70%.
