Snow Develops Tuesday Afternoon - Transitions to Sleet and Freezing Rain at Night

The next storm will spread snow into the region from the mid to late afternoon on Tuesday with a transition to sleet then freezing rain in many areas prior to midnight.  Snow accumulations prior to the switch will be variable and depedent on the exact timing of the changeover but in general appear will range from 2"-4".  Locally 3"-6" of snow will be possible in the Mohawk valley, Adirondacks, Lake George-Saratoga Region, Vermont and the Berkshires where snow is more likely to last longer.  0.10" to 0.15" of ice accretion will be possible into early Wednesday morning on top of the snow.

Poll: NYers approve of guns but not using public money in campaigns - 04/17/13

A new Quinnipiac Poll shows Governor Andrew Cuomo's approval ratings below 60%, a majority of New Yorkers are opposed to using public funds in campaigns and a majority of New Yorker's support new gun control laws in the state.

The poll, released Wednesday, shows Governor Cuomo's approval rating is 57%, up 2% from last month but down 17% from December.

The poll also questions New Yorkers about the job the state legislature is doing. 30% say they approve of their job.

On the heels of a push for campaign finance reform, where the governor is calling for public funds to be used to match smaller private donations, just 37% of New Yorkers say they would support using taxpayer dollars in campaigns. Conversely, 53% say they oppose it. 

On the issue of guns the poll shows 63% of New York residents say they support stricter gun control laws in the state.
