August 27, 1970 - Small helicopter emergency landing

Updated: Tuesday, August 27 2013, 05:31 AM EDT
On this day in our history in 1970, the new Fonda-Fultonville Central was being built upon the hill.

A helicopter was used to hoist air conditioning equipment to the roof, but there was a problem:

Engine trouble forced the helicopter to make an emergency landing in Salvatore Barletta's backyard on main street.
