July 24, 1971 - Cigarette sales in hospitals

You'd be hard-pressed to find a hospital that sells cigarettes now, but 40 years ago... about 70 percent of new york hospitals did.
On this day in 1971, we visited Schenectady's Ellis Hospital and found them right on top of the candy in the gift shop!
Among one doctor's concerns: if cigarettes were banned, employees would be running errands for patients.
It would take years before Ellis and others became smoke-free.
