On this day in 1968, New York State Police received a new 3-seat bubble-front helicopter.
The chopper worked out of Albany Airport.
Police said the chopper would be used for a variety of purposes, but not to catch speeders.
Back in the 60's planes were regularly used to catch drivers with a lead foot.
