The beginning of early demolition for roads around the proposed Amsterdam Mall.
The old Kresge's 5 and 10 closed a month earlier and was being demolished as was the old Kramer company building on cherry street.
67 buildings in all were torn down to make room for a north-south arterial highway to replace the old bridge that connected from the other side of the river right to downtown Amsterdam.
