Significant Snow Storm Sunday Night Through Monday

A significant snow storm will impact the region beginning late this evening and continuing through Monday.  Snow will become heavy at times after midnight and through Monday morning with snowfall rates of 1"-2" per hour.  This will lead to very poor travel conditions overnight and through much of the day on Monday.  Snow will become lighter Monday afternoon, but will likely not end until the evening.  Total snowfall accumulations for most regions look to reach 8"-14".

On this day in 1970, a 12-year-old Colonie boy won the Capital District Soap Box Derby in Albany.


Jeff hinsell beating out 78 other boys.


He earned a $500 savings bond, a trophy, and a trip to Akron, Ohio for the national competition.
