June 10, 1968 - Animal show makes stop in Latham

Updated: Monday, June 10 2013, 08:52 AM EDT

On this day in our history in 1968, the owners of Crump's Garage in Latham had some unusual and unexpected guests.

Bob and Rosa Gibbs of Miller, Missouri were hauling their animal road show along the Northway on their way to an appearance at disneyland, when their truck broke down near the Selkirk exit.

a Crump's Garage vehicle towed the truck filled with elephants, bears, llamas and ponies to Latham where the elephants were let out in a field.

Neighbors came out to sneak a peek.
