Updated: Monday, September 16 2013, 06:00 AM EDT
On this day in 1966, Civil rights leaders in Albany, wanted to have a "Festa", a good, old-fashioned community gathering, but Mayor Erastus Corning

Grand Street for the day
so booths could be put up.

Corning never publicly said why-a practice
common with the Mayor in those days but privately he did tell Richard
Collins, the former executive director of Trinity Institution.September 16, 1966 - A Good Old-fashioned Festa
