Snow Showers Gradually Ending - Then Turning Bitter Cold and Windy

Snow showers are expected to gradually taper off in most areas by early afternoon, with additional accumulations of a dusting to an inch or two. Flurries may linger, especially to the East of the Hudson Valley. Strong gusty wind and bitterly cold air will follow the snow this afternoon into Saturday with -15 to -25 degree wind chills developing.

September 2, 1966: Beginning of the Northway

ALBANY - It was on September 2, 1966 that Gov. Rockefeller marked the completion of the Adirondack Northway -- at the time.

The original Northway was completed when a 17-mile stretch from Warrensburg to Pottersville was dedicated.
