ALBANY -- Millions of dollars in Medicaid fraud have been recovered in New York, much of it in the Capital Region.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman annouced, his office recovered more than $335 million stolen from taxpayers in 2012.

The AG says his Medicaid Fraud Control Unit made record recoveries last year, including a number of actions that happened locally:

The MFCU busted the Rensselaer-based owner of a nurses agency; indicted a practicing dentist in Saratoga Springs; arrested a practicing nurse at the Glendale Home in Schenectady County; and charged a licensed practical nurse at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home in Troy.

The Attorney General's Office tells CBS 6's Dori Marlin, the hundreds of millions of dollars recovered will go back into the Medicaid system, and will be evenly redistributed across the state.
