ALBANY -- A Florida business with a bad rap may be trying to cash in on local businesses.
A viewer got in touch with CBS 6's Dori Marlin, and said their place of work fell victim to the phone grab.
They told Dori that a company called Horizon Search Solutions called on the phone, wanting to verify the local business's information.
However, once that local business said "yes" to the request - it unknowingly signed itself up for an online service, costing close to $2,000.
They say Horizon has no proof that their business signed up, but threatened anyway to send their case to collections.
Fortunately, that local business did get out of having to pay - but others haven't been so lucky.
Dori found that Horizon Search Solutions has already gotten into a lot of trouble with the Better Business Bureau. It's not accredited, and has had 20 complaints filed against it in the last few years.
The Bottom Line? The BBB is advising that if your business gets any such phone call, you should make sure to check out the other business approaching you first - before agreeing to any services or questions.
