Snow Develops This Afternoon - Transitions to Sleet and Freezing Rain at Night

The next storm will spread snow into the region today from the mid to late afternoon, with a transition to sleet then freezing rain in many areas prior to midnight.  Snow accumulations prior to the switch will be variable and dependent on the exact timing of the changeover but in general  will range from 2"-4" in most spots.  Locally 3"-6" of snow will be possible in the Mohawk valley, Adirondacks, Lake George-Saratoga Region, Vermont and the Berkshires where snow is more likely to last longer.  0.10" to 0.15" of ice accretion will be possible into early Wednesday morning on top of the snow.

A Bottom Line Alert from the New York Department of State, which is warning of a recent scam involving callers pretending to be Department of State staffers.
In most cases, the scammers are calling people at their home or business under the guise of an alleged outstanding case against them. 
The Department of State said it does not communicate by phone or electronic means without first sending written confirmation of possible allegations and providing all the proper contacts.  Officials warn to be suspicious of any phone calls or e-mails asking for detailed personal or financial information, especially when they require some form of immediate payment.  The Bottom Line: Department of State
