ALBANY – Black Friday is just around the corner, and officials are warning about the dangers of identity theft when shopping.

Albany District Attorney David Soares held a press conference on Wednesday to discuss ways local shoppers and businesses can protect themselves. He says easy access to highways makes the capital region particularly vulnerable to crooks, and warns that everyone should be on the lookout for counterfeit cash in the coming weeks.

Police are working with bankers and retailers to spot bogus bills and keep an eye out for skimming devices. The Bottom Line: Watch out for holiday crooks
