GUILDERLAND -- Police say a Altamont man bit an officer during a traffic stop on Monday.
Michele Salerno, 54, was charged with criminal mischief, assault, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration after the incident on Monday evening. Officials say an officer pulled a car over around 7 p.m. for a vehicle and traffic violation. That's when they say the defendant, a passenger in the car, got out and confronted the officer. He refused to return to the car, and when the cop tried to handcuff him, he allegedly bit the officer.
Authorities say the arresting officer was treated and released from Albany Medical Center. Meanwhile, Salerno was remanded to the Albany County Jail.
