17th annual Ronald McDonald House Charities Radiothon kicks off Friday
UPDATE: The Radiothon had raised $146,232.52 as of Saturday afternoon.
Organizers hope additional donations, which often trickle in for several weeks after the event, will take them over the $160,000 goal.
ALBANY (WRGB) - The 17th annual Ronald McDonald House Charities and Albany Broadcasting Radiothon kicks off Friday at 6:00 am.
The annual event raises money to provide comfort and support to thousands of families with seriously ill children. The Ronald McDonald House opens its doors to families, free of charge when they have to move to get the best care.
Since 1982, more than 15,000 families have made 17,000+ visits to the Albany Ronald Mcdonald House. They have private family rooms, playrooms for kids, provide home-cooked meals, and more.
Organizers say this year's goal is $160,000 which will cover 2,000 room-nights at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany.
Phone lines for donations will be open from 6:00 am Friday until 5:00 pm Saturday. Call 518-438-2655 to make a donation.
Albany Broadcasting radio stations will host their broadcasts from the Ronald McDonald House in Albany Friday morning.
You can also make a donation at the Crossgates Mall on Saturday by buying a paper heart. There will be a Family Fun event for the Radiothon Saturday at the mall, with entertainment and activities.
