Albany County discussing possible cuts under President's plan
ALBANY,(WRGB) Leaders in Albany County will meet this morning to discuss potential cuts in funding under President Trump's $1.15 trillion proposed budget.
The "America First" plan would increase defense spending and keeping the country safe, but proposes steeps cuts to federal programs like Meals on Wheels.
This is a big concern for Albany County Executive Dan McCoy and the Albany Executive Director of Senior Services Monika Boeckmann. They are both hosting the news conference today in Albany to discuss the importance of Meals on Wheels. President Trump said eliminating this program would save $3 billion dollars. The White House said the program is not well targeted and has not demonstrated results.
The news conference is scheduled to begin at 9:15am Monday in the kitchen of the Capital South Campus Center on Warren Street in Albany.
