Albany officer honored by state chapter of NAMI
ALBANY -- A member of the Albany police force was honored Friday, for his commitment to improving interactions with citizens who have disabilities.
Lt. Willie Flack III was awarded the Criminal Justice Award, by New York's section of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Flack, a 20-year veteran of the department, is constantly working to increase the department's understanding of how to deal with people living with psychiatric issues.
The award was presented as part of a conference on mental health recovery.
Mayor Kathy Sheehan was also on hand to honor Flack for his service.
