Bethlehem Fire 3.jpeg

Bethlehem, NY (WRGB) Bethlehem Police tell us just after 1 a.m. they received a call for a working fire at home on New Scotland Rd.

When crews arrived on scene they could see flames coming from the roof of 1613 New Scotland Road.

Our crew on scene spoke with someone who was inside of the home at the time of the fire.

Seth Reinhardt told our Kari Beal that lightning struck the home around 10 last night. Power was knocked out and at first, the family didn't think anything of it until the roof started to collapse.

Seth tells us they then called 911 and that he, his sister, parents, and cat made it out safely

New Scotland Avenue is currently closed from Fisher Boulevard to Kenwood avenue

The Red Cross is currently assisting the family.
