Brewery tanks begin trip to Rochester

Fermentation tanks meant for the Genesee Brewery in Rochester take to the water. They'll be transported via the Erie Canal.

WATERFORD -- The tanks are on the move.

Large tanks have been loaded on boats, on their way to the Genesee Brewery in Rochester.

The plant there is undergoing a renovation, and these tanks will be used for fermenting. Each can hold 661,000 cans of beer.

The tanks were too large to be moved by rail or truck -- and were launched as the canal opened for its 200th year.

The 225-mile trip will take about seven days.
