Crews fight fire at former Rensselaer City Hall
RENSSELAER -- Fire crews are on the scene at 505 Broadway, where a fire broke out Friday evening at the former Rensselaer City Hall.
Asst. Fire Chief Jay Corcoran says the call came in around 8:23 p.m., for a heavy smoke condition. The department called for assistance from several neighboring fire districts.
Corocoran said most of the damage was in the rear of the building, where the old police station was located.
The tin ceilings in the building, which had also served as a factory, made it difficult to determine where the fire was traveling. He said firefighters worked slowly, but that the fire was out as of about 10 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
