Dollar General bringing jobs to Montgomery County
FLORIDA, NY (WRGB)--A deal has reached a big deal that will bring hundreds of jobs to the city.
Dollar General has chosen an area along Route 5S in the Town of Florida for its 16th distribution center.
Construction of the 750,000 foot facility is expected to begin this spring, with hiring set for mid-2018.
At full capacity, it's expect to create 430 new jobs.
Dollar General has about 360 stores in New York, with more than three-thousand employees.
"Today’s announcement brings jobs and opportunities for the residents of Montgomery County and Dollar General's arrival is a big economic boost for the region, overall. I believe Dollar General was attracted to Montgomery County for a number of reasons, including our centralized location and affordability, two of our key strengths for businesses that are looking to thrive. I want to commend our Economic Development office for working through the planning and permitting process successfully and for doing the legwork to secure a project that will bring such a significant investment into the county," Montgomery County Executive Matthew Ossenfort.
