High school students present WWI & II research to area veterans
ALBANY, NY (WRGB)-- Local high school students finished projects about fallen veterans buried at Oakwood Cemetery, and today they presented their work to veterans living in the Capital Region.
The students took a field trip to the cemetery last month and had to research the veterans buried there.
The students and the veterans said they walked away learning something today.
"My biggest takeaway is to have the utmost respect for the veterans of today because of what they did for our nation," said Tech Valley HS student Lars White.
"When they hear about war they watch it on TV and learn more as they go on in school, it's going to mean more to them," said Army veteran Christine Rem.
The students said it was difficult to find information on some of our fallen soldiers, but the research process gave them a better appreciation of the sacrifice they gave.
