In record heat, runners lace up for Workforce Team Challenge
ALBANY -- Under record temperatures, thousands laced their running shoes for the Workforce Team Challenge 5K in Albany Thursday afternoon.
The course begins and ends at the Empire State Plaza, traveling through Washington Park.
Organizers brought lots of extra water, with stops along the course and at the finish line, and the Albany Fire Department is on the scene with a truck to spray runners at the end to cool off.
Race Director Mark Warner says they're encouraging runners to take it easy, and not try for best times or personal records in this heat.
