Inmate accused of Schenectady County Court Lockdown faces four new charges
SCHENECTADY (WRGB) - Devin Hoyt, 30, was arraigned in Schenectady City Court Wednesday morning, after allegedly stealing a ring of keys off an officer, sending the jail into lockdown last week.
Hoyt already faces felony gun and drug charges. He now faces four new charges - two felonies: Possession of Dangerous Contraband and Tampering with Evidence, and two misdemeanors: Possession of Stolen Property and Petite Larceny.
Hoyt pleaded not guilty.
Hoyt is accused of stealing a ring of keys off an officer while being transported for a court appearance. He was caught on surveillance video swiping the keys.
The jail was put on lockdown for two days while officers searched for the keys. Most have been found, except one handcuff key.
Hoyt was sent back to jail after his appearance Wednesday morning. Bail was offered for the petite larceny charge, but because of the other felony charges, he's not likely to get out.
The case will likely be presented to a grand jury Friday morning.
Hoyt is due back in court Friday afternoon.
