"Light the Night" Fundraiser held in Albany
ALBANY, NY (WRGB)--The Leukemia and Lymphoma society is working toward a big event this Fall.
Last night, they held the kick off event for the annual "Light the Night" fundraiser.
It was held at Druther's in Albany.
One of the co-chairs says his family got involved with the organization in 1962 when he was diagnosed as a child.
Since then, he says it's raised over $1 billion.
"When I was ill as a child, 10% of children survived if you were diagnosed with leukemia, today because of the great work of the organization, over 90% of the children diagnosed survive, live healthy long lives," said Rick Ostroff.
The "Light the Night" walk takes place at Siena College October 14th.
