Note from Siena College: We were informed Friday evening by the vendor of the eclipse glasses we purchased that although the product features the necessary ISO 12312-2 code (which was assured by the manufacturer), they cannot independently verify that they these glasses are safe to use.

They opted to err on the side of caution and are asking their purchasers to discard the glasses. The glasses may indeed be safe but the manufacturer wisely did not want to take any chances whatsoever.

Monday's public eclipse viewing at Siena is still a go -- guests will be able to safely view the eclipse using the College's telescopes and special viewing filters. The public is welcome between 1-4PM -- telescopes will be set up between parking lot F and the first base side of the baseball field.
