Multiple crews knock down fire on Lake George
LAKE GEORGE -- Multiple fire departments responded to a call on Little Bay Lane Saturday morning, for a residential fire.
The call came in shortly before 8 a.m., and was reported to be a basement fire. Lake George Fire Chief Jason Berry said his department arrived to find heavy smoke, but everyone safely out of the house.
Berry said there were no hydrants available, so the fight was a tanker operation. He said they considered dropping a hose into the lake itself, but it turned out to be unnecessary.
Berry said the fire might have started at an electric dehumidifier in the basement. He said there was smoke and water damage to the first floor, and smoke damage on the second floor, but said the building itself was saved, and should be repairable.
