Muslim conference aims to promote understanding
Thousands of American Muslims gathered this weekend in Harrisburg, Pa. for the nation's longest-running Muslim convention.
We spoke with Hafeez Rehman, spokesman for the Ammadiyaa Muslim community in Albany, over Skype.
He told us one of the convention's goals was to promote understanding, and eliminate misconceptions.
"We strive to live peacefully and understand the Islamic teachings so that we could implement them in our lives and inform others that are not Muslims that Islam is nothing to be afraid of," Rehman said.
A number of U.S. lawmakers, governors, and diplomats also attended the convention.
