New details released about man shot by Troy PD
TROY, NY (WRGB)--We're learning more about the 22-year old man shot by a Troy Police officer this week.
Police confirmed Dahmeek McDonald is the same man arrested in 2014 after jumping off the Dunn Memorial Bridge.
Police said back then that McDonald was driving a car that led police on a high speed chase before McDonald and another man jumped off the bridge.
They said the car was involved in a shooting the night before, and McDonald was sentenced to four years in prison in that case.
As we've reported, Troy Police said one of their officers shot McDonald on Tuesday night after stopping a car McDonald was in.
That officer and others involved are on administrative leave while an internal investigation is being conducted.
The shooting prompted protesters to take to the streets Wednesday.
We'll continue to following this developing story.
