NY Democrats urge tighter gun controls, background checks
ALBANY, NY (WRGB)--New York Senate Democrats are firing off a new round of anti-gun proposals.
The package of bills would expand New York's regulations on firearms, which are already some of the strongest in the country.
One of the bills would allow victims of gun violence to bring lawsuits against New York gun manufacturers.
Another would put a limit on the number of guns that could be purchased, to 12 per year.
"We must send the president and the rest of the country a message and say enough is enough," said NYS Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.
She says the proposed legislation comes after President Trump talked about rolling back existing gun measures at a recent National Rifle Association conference.
