NYSP: Cohoes woman tried to bring contraband to Downstate Correctional inmate
FISHKILL -- State Police based in Fishkill arrested a Cohoes woman Saturday on multiple contraband-related charges.
An investigation showed that Erin Kowalewski, 39, a visitor to Downstate Correctional Facility, intended to provide drugs to an inmate. She was found in possession of diazepam, suboxone, hydrocodone, and marijuana.
Kowalewski was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, both Class D Felonies, Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, both Class A Misdemeanors, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a Violation.
The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Office of Special Investigations assisted in the investigation.
Kowalewski was arraigned in Town of Fishkill Court, and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. She is tentatively scheduled to appear in Town of Fishkill Court at 8 p.m. on Nov. 8.
