Police investigating report of a woman sexually assaulted, punched at SPAC concert
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (WRGB) An investigation into an alleged assault at Saratoga Performing Arts Center during a concert.
The victim is using social media to help find the man she says grabbed her sexually, then punched her in the face.
Gigi Picozzi posted pictures of her black eye and swollen face. She wants to find the man she says did this to her during a Kendrick Lamar concert Saturday at SPAC in the lawn section. She says people were a little pushy, but one man got aggressive when she stood her ground.
“He came up behind me, reached his hand under my legs, sexually assaulted me, grabbed me, yanked me backwards. I grabbed his arm and I yelled at him for touching me and then he punched me in the nose,” said Picozzi.
Reaching out to the venue and promoters, CBS 6 was given a joint statement saying “SPAC and Live Nation consider the safety and security of our fans of the utmost importance. We are cooperating fully with the NYS Park Police on their investigation and refer all further inquiries to them at this time.”
We went to Park Police. They confirm they’re investigating the incident- and say responded to 85 calls Saturday night in a crowd of more than 22-thousand people.
We’re told they issued dozens of tickets for underage possession of alcoholic beverages and assisted on-site medical staff.
“It’s definitely not going to keep me from living my life, because that’s what these kind of people want,” said Picozzi.
However she says she does want to press charges if they find him.
State park police say the suspect is described as a white male, 18-20 years old, about 5’11’ wearing a black hat and white basketball jersey.
Anyone with information is asked to call park police.
They say they take an aggressive approach to maintaining safety, using uniformed and plainclothes police officers.
