School district employees targeted by phishing scam
HUDSON -- The Superintendent of Hudson City Schools says the district is the victim of a phishing scam.
Superintendent Maria Suttmeier says the scam email appeared to come from the Superintendent of Schools. She sent a letter to employees, letting them know that as a result of the scam, employee information, including social security numbers, were fraudulently obtained by an unauthorized person. She also provided information for employees about how to keep the breach from negatively impacting their credit.
Suttmeier says local police have been informed of the breach and are investigating. She says one other district in the region was also the victim of a similar scam.
