State Police: Child porn, unlawful surveillance charges for Hagaman man

AMSTERDAM, NY (WRGB) - State Police say they have arrested a Hagaman man, accused of possessing child porn and setting up surveillance with the intent to record children.

State Police say John Salisbury was charged with possessing and promoting a sexual performance by a child, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful surveillance.

Police say Salisbury was in possession and uploaded an image of a child engaged in a sexual performance.

Investigators say he's accused of setting up surveillance in a bathroom to capture videos of children.

Court paperwork states that the surveillance was set up inside his home.

Salisbury was arraigned in the City of Amsterdam court and sent to the Montgomery County Jail on $25,000 bail.

St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam released a statement saying that Salibury had been coaching the Junior girls’ basketball team, which includes middle school students and operates as an after-school CYO program.

The school says that he passed a background check and has immediately been suspended up learning of the arrest.

The school says it is cooperating with State Police in this very serious matter and there are no indications at this time that any unlawful activity occurred on school premises.
