State Police issue warning about ruse involving fake National Grid worker

BRUNSWICK, NY (WRGB)-- State Police are issuing a warning now about a phony National Grid worker.

Troopers received a report of an unknown person calling a residence in Northern Rensselaer County who identifies himself as a member of National Grid.

The man called requesting access to the residence to perform service.

In the one such case reported so far, National Grid was contacted by the homeowner, and the homeowner was advised that no such service was scheduled.

All National Grid contractors carry proper identification.

If an unknown person comes to your home requesting to be let inside, call 911.
