Troy officer charged with DWI in Colonie appears in court
UPDATE: Troy police say Officer Kevin McKenna has been suspended without pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.
COLONIE, NY (WRGB)--A Troy police officer was in court Monday night, pleading not guilt to a drunk driving charge.
Colonie police say officer Kevin McKenna was in a crash over the weekend near Goodrich Ave. and Troy Schenectady Rd.
Police say the 26-year-old officer showed signs of intoxication and refused a breath test.
He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and refusal to take a breath test.
Troy police say McKenna is on paid leave for now, pending an investigation.
He was hired in the summer of 2015.
McKenna's attorney tells us his license is suspended pending a DMV hearing, because he refused a breath test and he's due in court next month.
