Troy woman sentenced in DWI crash that killed 18 year old teen
ALBANY, NY (WRGB) A 41 year old Troy woman was sentenced to state prison after admitting to drinking all day then causing a crash that killed an 18 year old teen.
Jessical Bellerose was sentenced to 2 1/3 to 7 years in State Prison.
Back on March 16, 2017, Bellerose pleaded guilty to one Count of Manslaughter, one Count of Vehicular Manslaughter, and one Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor.
“This was a 100% preventable crash that left an 18 year old young woman dead and her family and community forever changed because of the selfish and deadly decisions of the defendant,” commented DA David Soares.
Investigators say on October 11, 2016, at around 6:45 P.M., Bellerose drove a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix while intoxicated on Alt Route 7 in the Town of Colonie. After passing several vehicle, Bellerose , according to police, sideswiped a Subaru in the right hand lane.
Her car then drove into the center median becoming airborne. She then crashed into a front driver’s side of another car being driven in the westbound lane by Paige Ahearn, age 18.
The crash killed Paige instantly and caused injuries to the passenger in that vehicle, according to police.
