More than 7 million pounds of hot dogs, sausages recalled due to possible contamination


WASHINGTON (KABB/WOAI) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that a New York company is recalling millions of hot dog products due to possible contamination.

Marathon Enterprises Inc. is pulling approximately 7,196,084 pounds of hot dog products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically bone fragments. The beef and pork hot dog and sausage items were produced between March 17 and July 4.

The products being recalled have the establishment number “EST. 8854” inside the USDA mark of inspection and were shipped to retail and institutional locations nationwide.

There has been one reported minor oral injury associated with consumption of this product, the USDA says.

If you have purchased any of these products, do not consume them. They should be thrown away or returned to the place you purchased them.
