You Paid For It: Cost of Corruption
ALBANY (WRGB) -- It's the cost of corruption in state government.
The state comptroller's office has released state payments and contracts approved for the month of December and there's a whopping legal bill on there -- $643,000 paid to a law firm representing the Office of Governor Andrew Cuomo.
The law firm is handling matters related to two corruption scandals, one involving the Buffalo Billion, the other the Nanotech Program. A number of Cuomo aides and associates are facing criminal charges now.
Of the $643,000, a governor's spokesma says the law firm is not defending the governor.
"As we previously said, we are assisting the U.S. Attorney's office in any way we can in their investigation and their prosecution."
