SnowFall Distribution Map

WeatherNet 6 Spotter/NWS Cooperative Observer reported Observed Snowfall Distribution Map for the Period Thursday Through Noon Friday February 25-26, 2010 (This is not an Event Total Distribution Map)

Note: Data for this distribution map is concentrated on the 21 County WRGB coverage area which extends through the Adirondacks, south to the western Catskills, mid Hudson valley, and east through Berkshire, Litchfield, Bennington, and Rutland counties in New England. Contouring outside of this zone is done with minimal data and therefore should not be deemed an accurate depiction of snowfall.

Also Note: Because of the extremely tight gradient between no snow and extremely heavy snow, especially along the Helderberg escarpment, the scale of this graphic is not fine enough to accurately resolve the gradient. Therefore, this distribution is an estimate on the location of heaviest snowfall, which was highly elevation dependent, and therefore, likely contains some inaccuracies that cannot be resolved at this graphic resolution. . Also note, some areas in the Hudson valley in the Trace to 1" contour had no snow during the first phase of the storm, especially in Washington County where shadowing became quite evident Thursday afternoon and Thursday night as the strong easterly flow down sloped off of the Green Mountains.
