Flash Flood Watch
Issued by local National Weather Service Forecast offices for individual counties when there is a POSSIBILITY of rapidly developing flooding due to heavy rain, especially in areas that are typically dry. Flash flood watches are also issued in cases when there is a potential for a dam failure.
 
Flash Flood Warning
Issued by local National Weather Service Forecast offices for parts of counties when rapidly occurring flooding will create an immediate threat to life and/or property. Flash flooding generally occurs in a time period of less than 6 hours after the onset of heavy rain or immediately after a dam failure.
