Beyond the Games: Decky Lawson
ALBANY -- Decky Lawson's first win came easily. The Albany High alumnus took over his alma mater's varsity girls basketball team for the 2012-2013 season, guiding the Lady Falcons to a Section 2, Class AA title. Five years and 99 wins later, Lawson has earned himself a new nickname: "Mr. 100." The milestone came in a hard-fought game against Schenectady this past Friday night. The win wrapped up an 11-5 regular season league showing against brutally tough Suburban Council competition, but Lawson hasn't worked his way up from coaching middle school teams just for the wins alone. He spoke with our Gardner Royce about his journey to 100, and all that's come with it.
