Beyond the Games: Mike Lopez
NISKAYUNA, NY (WRGB)--According to some estimations, the odds of picking a perfect NCAA tournament bracket are one in 9.2 quintillion.
But don't tell that to Skidmore professor Mike Lopez.
Lopez played football at Bates college before becoming a statistician. He found a day job combining his love of math with his love of sports.
Back in 2015, he helped create a formula that best predicts the outcomes of tournament games.
His reward? A $15,000 grand prize.
With the Thoroughbreds on spring break, and First Four tip-off less than 24 hours away, Lopez stopped by the studio to talk with our Brittany Devane.
