Smush Parker to continue career in Albany
As a head coach Phil Jackson has a record 11 NBA titles, but his first championship ring was won in Albany. Jackson led the Patroons to their first CBA title in 1984, coaching a team that included Mr. Patroon himself, Derrick Rowland.
Later, at the helm of the Los Angeles Lakers, Jackson coached a player by the name of Smush Parker. The Brooklyn native won L.A.'s starting point guard job out of camp in 2005, a position he kept for 162-straight games.
Parker has been playing overseas since he left the NBA, but that's about to change. The 36-year-old has been recruited by Rowland for a reboot of the Patroons franchise.
