Danes' lacrosse season stops at semifinals

The Great Danes are shown taking the field at Gillette Stadium Friday, for practice. Their season ended Saturday, when they lost their NCAA semifinal match to Yale.

The "Dane Train" has gone off the tracks in the NCAA semifinals.

UAlbany falls in its first appearance in the NCAA semifinals, 20-11, to Yale. The Bulldogs sprinted out of the gates, opening the game on a 7-0 run. The Great Danes had no answer for Matt Gaudet, who led Yale with a game-high six goals. UAlbany senior Connor Fields ends his historic career in purple and gold with a hat trick and two assists. Fields finishes his collegiate career as the number two scorer in NCAA history.

Yale will play the winner of Maryland and Duke in the finals on Monday.
