Former Shen star drafted by Chicago White Sox
CLIFTON PARK, NY (WRGB)---It's the third and final day of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft.
Today, another Capital Region name came off the board.
Former Shenendehowa standout Justin Yurchak was selected in the 12th round/357th overall by the Chicago White Sox.
The Clifton Park native helped lead the Plainsmen to a pair of Section II titles during his junior and senior years, picking up All-American honors along the way.
After graduating from Shen, Yurchak started his college career at Wake Forest, where he was named to the ACC all-freshman team, Yurchak decided to depart after his rookie year, transferring to Binghamton to be closer to home.
This past season, Yurchak batted .320 with three home runs and 26 RBI, though opposing pitchers often wanted nothing to do with him.
Yurchak led the team with 41 walks, to just 12 strikeouts.
