Troy, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats were down to their final out Tuesday, when Jamie Ritchie gave them new life. Ritchie's solo home run in the bottom of the 9th forced extra innings, and allowed Alex Hernandez to single in the game-winning run in the 10th.
A thrilling 3-2 victory on Irish Night at Joe Bruno Stadium lifts Tri-City into a tie with Hudson Valley for the New York-Penn League's best record (39-19).
Houston Astros outfielder Alex Presley went 0-3 in his Tri-City debut. The five-year major league veteran hadn't seen live pitching in a month, since going onto the disabled list with a strained oblique muscle.
Serving as the designated hitter and lead-off man, Presley became the first MLB position player ever to appear in a game with the ValleyCats.
