Jason Lewis is a sports anchor, producer, and MMJ at CBS6 Albany and the Upstate Sports Edge. New Jersey born and raised, Jason is excited to be back home! With the Edge, he delves in deeper than just the highlights and scores. Jason focuses on our local athletes beyond just hitting the field or court.
Jason made the journey back east from Abilene, Texas where he was sports director at KTXS (ABC) for a little over a year and a half. There he anchored during the week, hosted a 45-minute high school football show, Football Friday Night, and KTXS` weekly half hour show, Sports Sunday. While at KTXS, he also won a small market Lone Star EMMY for a story on a man who took four Sweetwater football players under his wing.
Before coming to Abilene, Jason worked as a freelance sports reporter and producer for News 12 The Bronx/Brooklyn and News 12 New Jersey for almost three years. While working for News 12, he was lucky enough to cover Super Bowl XLVIII, two Yankees postseason runs, and the Nets move to Brooklyn. His most memorable moment, though, was being present for LIU-Brooklyn's Jason Brickman becoming the fourth player in NCAA basketball history to record 1,000 career assists.
Jason graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Arizona State University. While at ASU, he was a sports reporter for Cronkite NewsWatch. Meanwhile, Jason also gained valuable experience at my internships with KPNX, 3TV and CBS News New York. Jason bleeds maroon and gold, and loves to cheer on his Sun Devils!
When he`s not out covering the Capitol Region`s local teams, you can find Jason in the gym, spending time with friends, or throwing around a lacrosse ball. Jason`s a true lacrosse fanatic, and played in high school, college, and still play for a men's team. Aside from the Sun Devils, Jason is a huge fan of the Baltimore Ravens, New York Yankees, and Brooklyn Nets.
