Light poles fall on Erie Blvd.
SCHENECTADY - Two light poles fell into a Schenectady street Thursday afternoon, but there is debate on how they fell.
Schenectady police say they were alerted by a motorist that two poles on Erie Boulevard fell around 12:30 p.m.
Police say the poles were heavily corroded at the base and that high winds may have played a factor.
A National Grid spokesperson, in a release, claims there was no evidence that the poles came down due to corrosion or wind gusts, but showed signs of force.
National Grid crews on the scene claim that unidentified witnesses told them a tractor trailer came into contact with the wire connecting the poles.
National Grid and city engineers were on the scene repairing the two poles.
There were no injuries.
